See plots for clifftop (HORI.11) and pitch-pine woodland (HORI.1). Forest below is red oak / rhododendron. Trail runs along base of cliff face.;South facing sandstone cliff off the summit of a small knob. Cliff communities appear to be rare in this region of the state. Cliff is near vertical with overhanging top. Cliff face is mostly shaded by trees rooted below. There is probably very little exposure to precipitation. There are a few woody saplings rooted on the face. Community is dominated by crustose and leprose lichens.

Concave part of cliff band ~ 40 m from point to point. Lichens collected from base, cover estimated from base to top of face. (highest diversity and cover are near base).
